Mount Kenya National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in central Kenya, approximately 175 km northeast of Nairobi. The park surrounds Mount Kenya, Africa’s second-highest mountain at 5,199 meters (17,057 ft). It is famous for its breathtaking landscapes, glaciers, diverse ecosystems, and unique Afro-alpine vegetation.
The Mountain
Mount Kenya features three main peaks:
Batian (5,199m) – Highest peak, ideal for technical climbers
Nelion (5,188m) – Technical climbing peak
Point Lenana (4,985m) – Popular trekking peak accessible to hikers
The mountain offers spectacular views, alpine meadows, glacial lakes, and dramatic rocky summits.
